A short notice of outermost importance
I command y'all to go see the movie »You, The Living« by Roy Andersson and the wonderful crew of Studio 24. I'm in awe, is all I can say.
For you guys who didn't know this, the Studio 24 crew are the same people that helped out shooting the Tgr Lou videos for »Sam, As In Samntha«, »Oh, Horatio« and »The Loyal«. Magnus Renfors directed, and they took care of the rest. A fun little anecdote concerning the film is that, when we shot »Sam«, most of the studio was set up to shoot the second scene of »You, The Living«. This was in 2003!
They'd painted some buildings on the walls, built a bridge out of papier mache and made some funky looking miniature cars out of some pieces of god-knows-what. I remember thinking (not aloud) »Jesus Christ – what kind of drugs are these guys on – if they think anyone will think this is real?«.
But as the second scene of the film (yes … they've shot every scene chronologically over the past four years) unfolds, the set design, lighting, sound and atmosphere is flawless. I'm left totally dumbfounded.
Fuck man, I wanna make movies!
»Therefore rejoice, oh thou living one
blest in they lovelighted homestead
Ere the dark Lethe's sad wave
wetteth they fugetive foot«
Oh … and here's a picture of me sleeping.
